Soft vs hard mouthguards
The two options aren’t just about price. Soft guards are more comfortable for mild to moderate grinding and tend to suit people who are new to wearing a night guard. Hard acrylic guards hold up better against heavy, forceful grinding and last longer, which is why dentists usually recommend them for more severe cases. A pharmacy “boil and bite” guard is cheaper upfront, but it’s bulkier, wears out faster, and doesn’t fit as precisely as one made from a dental impression of your teeth.
