Invisalign Singapore

What Is Invisalign?

An alternative to traditional braces, Invisalign treatment consists of a series of clear, removable aligners which are changed every few weeks. Invisalign is made with strong medical grade thermoplastic material and the aligners are custom-made for you and fit snugly over your teeth.

As the name suggests, these custom-made aligners are also nearly invisible, making it barely noticeable!

How Does Invisalign Work?

Each aligner has to be worn for at least 22 hours per day to allow teeth to move into an improved, pre-determined position. Throughout the process, orthodontic records such as photographs, models of teeth and bite, X-rays – are taken and sent overseas to Invisalign’s specialised laboratory. The laboratory creates a computer-generated 3D image and a simulation of teeth movement on Invisalign’s Clincheck software. Once you and the dentist view and approve of the treatment plan on the Clincheck software, the clear aligners are manufactured and shipped to Singapore! You are ready to start the process of achieving your new smile!

What dental problems can Invisalign fix?

Overbite

This is when the upper teeth overlap the lower teeth. A small amount of overlapping is common, but more severe cases of overbite could cause pain when you’re eating or chewing.

Underbite

An underbite is the opposite of an overbite. The lower teeth overlap the upper teeth. This may cause problems with eating, chewing or talking.

Crossbite

A crossbite is where the upper teeth fit behind the lower teeth which may cause decay or difficulty speaking.

Open bite

This is where the upper and lower teeth are unable to close to meet each other. This may cause teeth sensitivity and talking with a lisp.

Gaps in teeth

Teeth spacing is when there are bigger gaps between two or more teeth which may result in speech difficulties and pieces of food getting stuck between teeth more easily.

Overcrowding

This is when there is insufficient space in the jaw for all the teeth to grow and fit in. This causes some teeth to be pushed to one side or grow in a twisted position.

Advantages of Invisalign

Incognito

Invisalign is transparent so it is harder to detect than traditional braces and almost virtually invisible!

Better Oral Health

Aligners can simply be removed for cleaning and brushing to ensure optimal hygiene.

More Comfortable

The aligners consist of smooth, comfortable plastic which is less likely to irritate your cheeks and gums.

Fewer food restrictions

Unlike traditional wires and brackets, you can eat whatever you like during the course of treatment because you remove your aligners to eat and drink!

Disadvantages of Invisalign

Easily misplaced

Since aligners are removable, they can be easily misplaced.

22 Hours a day

To facilitate effective movement of the teeth, the patient must be committed to wearing the aligners almost all the time for at least 22 hours a day.

Cost

The costs of Invisalign is often greater than traditional braces because of the high fees levied by the Invisalign laboratory for the fabrication of the series of aligners.

Not for Everyone

Aligners can simply be removed for cleaning and brushing to ensure optimal hygiene.
