A periodontist consultation at Smilepoint Dental costs $95. Gum infection therapy, the treatment used for more advanced gum disease, costs $280 to $350 depending on how many areas of the mouth need treatment and how far the infection has progressed.
What counts as gum disease treatment
Gum disease covers a range of conditions, from gingivitis (early gum inflammation, usually reversible) to periodontitis (infection that has spread below the gumline and can damage the bone supporting your teeth). Treatment differs accordingly: a thorough scale and polish can resolve early gingivitis, while periodontitis needs gum infection therapy or, in advanced cases, periodontal surgery.
Cost by severity
If your gums bleed when you brush, look swollen, or you’ve noticed bad breath that doesn’t go away, the first step is usually a periodontist consultation ($95) to assess the extent of the problem. Mild cases may need only a Consult, Scale and Polish package ($159). Established infection is treated with gum infection therapy at $280 to $350 per visit, and more than one visit is sometimes needed depending on severity.
Subsidy and insurance coverage
Scaling-related treatment for gum disease can sometimes be subsidised under government schemes such as CHAS, for Blue, Orange, Pioneer Generation, or Merdeka Generation cardholders. Medisave generally does not apply, since most gum disease treatment is non-surgical. We also have various private insurance providers signed up with us; contact our front desk for more information on what applies to your plan.
Book a consultation
If you’re noticing any of the symptoms above, book a periodontist consultation at our Holland Village or Mapletree Business City clinic to find out what stage your gum health is at and what treatment, if any, you need.
