No. Teeth whitening is classified as a cosmetic procedure in Singapore, so it isn’t covered by Medisave or by most insurance plans.
Why whitening isn’t covered
Medisave and most insurance plans are built around medically necessary treatment, meaning anything that treats decay, infection, or injury. Whitening doesn’t fall into that category since it changes the colour of teeth without treating an underlying condition, regardless of how stained or discoloured the teeth are.
What IS covered
There’s one exception worth knowing: if a tooth has discoloured because the nerve inside has died (often after trauma or a deep cavity), the root canal treatment needed to fix that underlying problem may be claimable, even though the cosmetic whitening step afterward still isn’t.
